19. Valencia High School, Placentia, CA

Valencia High School is a public magnet school in Placentia, California. It has 2,690 students in grades 9-12. Valencia High School is unique, fun, empowering, diverse, and positive. With all of the great staff, parents, teachers, students, and coaches there is no way this high school is the same as another.

VHS is the only high school in the district with an IB program and has the largest AP program in addition. It’s academic decathlon, debate, and science/chemistry olympiad teams always extremely well in national competition. If in advanced classes, the workload can be difficult at times, but is definitely manageable and worth it in the end. There are also classes for students with disabilities.

The teachers at Valencia High School are unique in many ways. Many of them are alumni of Valencia and loved it so much they decided to come back and teach. Each one is very knowledgeable of their course being taught. There is a lot of outside help they provide, long office hours for help, and great ability to teach I.B. curriculum. The quality of ехт teachers is very high and respectable.

Mostly everyone at Valencia is involved in an after school activity whether it be a class, sport, or club. Orchestra, band, and choir are big parts of the school as well and have great commitment from students. Highly popular clubs at the school are R.A.C.E, Pinx, Best Buddies, Habitat for Humanities, and Operation Smile.

Fundraisers and many activities are always happening and are kept up with by students and staff. The extracurriculars at Valencia are so diverse and supportive that is welcomes everyone to join.

Almost every sport you can imagine is at Valencia and about 97% of the students here play in one. They are passionate and invest many hours of their time into practice, which in turn pays off at the games. School spirit is lively, with ASB holding special assemblies dedicated to sports.

Fan support blows other schools out of the water–no student shows as much enthusiasm and love for their school’s team like a Valencia student does.
